2.29 - crepevine (inner sunset) - if you're a regular reader of this blog, you know that crepevine is one of my favorite standby restaurants. well recently christien and i discovered another reason to drag oursevles out of bed on the weekends before 1pm: swedish oatmeal pancakes! hearty, oatey, but surprisingly fluffy and tender, these oatmeal pancakes are AMAZING, especially with some berry compote and maple syrup. we've gone to crepevine 4 times this month just for them. if you're not a crepevine fan, just for you cafe in the dogpatch also has excellent oatmeal pancakes, although they're not as big.
2.22 - thai chef (castro) - as if we didn't have enough thai joints in the castro, i was a bit skeptical walking into this modern decor restaurant, expecting high prices and small portions. prices turned out to be moderate, portions were definitely on the smaller side, but i was quite impressed by the intensity of flavors in our tom kha gai, panang curry, and stir-fried eggplant with pork. but either they have a heavy hand with salt or i was really parched. i had like 10 glasses of water. all in all, not a bad place though, and definitely more roomy than the quaint thailand restaurant around the corner.
